valvoline or motor-craft?

I have a 2000 ford ranger xlt 4x4 5 speed manual. I want to take good care of this truck and keep it running and looking new. so I did a lot of research on motor oil and the two best that i found were valvoline or motor-craft ( that is put out by ford). so I am stuck between the two and was going to see what everyone else thought.

I buy Motorcraft for my 2006 Ranger. It's usually the same price as just about any other oil on the shelf at my parts stores locally, and it's what Ford recommends in the owner's manual.

I figure if I can get the factory-specified oil for the same price as aftermarket oils, that's a pretty good buy. Try looking up other manufacturer's specified oils, especially foreign manufacturers like Nissan and Honda, and you'll see they're usually much higher than the Castrols, Pennzoils, and Valvolines of the world.

While you're at it, buy the factory-recommended Motorcraft oil filter. It's also similar in price to the Frams and Purolators on the shelf next to it. In my experience from cutting two apart, the Motorcraft is definitely much better made than the Fram. I've always heard Purolator is actually pretty well-made, but again, if you can get the factory-recommended filter for the same price, why wouldn't you? It just makes good sense.
