Is the bindi Indian women wear only red or black?
I looked this up online and found (via Yahoo! Answers, of course 
) that the little red dot Indian women wear in their foreheads is traditionally a mark of being married, but that younger women found it fashionable so have started wearing it without being married. I was wondering, since it's becoming a fashion statement, if the bindi is any other colors besides red or black?
married women traditionally put this red powder (called kunku.. not sure on the spelling) and it's put on the the frontof their hairline. maybe you are getting it mixed up with that? but i'm not sure
the bindi which is the dot in between the eyebrows can be worn by anyone. my family is indian and when we go to the temple the priest puts a little dot on our foreheads after we finish praying.
and my dad often has one after he finishes praying in the house (we're hindu btw)
and me, my sister and mom wear one when we go out to an event (men don't wear them to events) like weddings. we don't have to wear it, but it often looks really good because you can get cute little silver ones or any colour really!
