My house was built in 1924. I love the windows, but my gas bill is more of $ 800.00 per month! Anyone who has used the shrink plastic window covering? I saw them on TV. Are they worth it? Except not there any other ideas? New windows of this house that resembles the original price are a fool! I just want an easy solution for months winter if possible.
I used the windows of chain to contract by 3M and are very useful. However, keep in mind they seal the window. If the problem is gaps at the edges of the window, where the management has narrowed the gap to from the plaster (or vice versa), it will not help that. You need to caulk these areas. The only problem I had with the shrink (other than to be a lot of time) is that the band can remove peeling paint or leave some glue residue when it is removed. For this reason, try to always put the tape on the sides of the window (where they meet the wall) rather than on the face of the window. Patience is the key to achieve the therapist to work. Do not rush - just work from one corner to another, slowly, with the hair dryer. I used the diffuser on mine to avoid "hot spots". Hope this helps and good luck for the heating bill!
