How did we run the nation above all this tax?
The income tax - made to pay for War world - a temporary and voluntary - More or less the same story in the United States, but of course a little different GST a neutral tax that generate no new revenue for the government (surplus dollars in bullion because of the GST) etc etc. How on earth did they run this nation before all these taxes gas tax - Over 35% of the price you pay is tax at the pump as the oil company is small fries compared to the government - that they had not until 1910 How governments to survive?
I was not alive at the time. State tax pays for welfare, roads, schools, etc. etc. Federal pays federal subsidies for education, war *, aid to other nations and the salaries of politicians (and the best vacation imaginable retirement too), and more. No amout of government spending in any way compare to that of the billions spent on war. People complain about welfare, but it's just a tiny percentage of the budget! I can back up if you want a link let me knowledge. State Lotteries used to help fund schools, but that has stopped, creating a higher tax for local schools neighborhood.
